With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, weddings in 2020 have looked a lot different than most of us are used to. Next year’s celebrations may also be smaller and more socially-distanced, and some 2021 couples may be hesitant to reintroduce the wedding dance floor …but what about in 2022?
While it’s impossible to predict where the pandemic will go, we think the wedding dance floor will start making a comeback for the 2022 wedding season.
The new wedding dance floor: Party like it’s 2022!
Most weddings this year have restricted dancing as a means of limiting close contact between guests and minimizing the risk of spreading COVID-19. But as the pandemic subsides, big wedding dance floors with plenty of room to spread out could very well become the new norm.
Slowly but surely, people will feel more comfortable rejoining the dance floor. Once social distancing restrictions ease up, we’ll see that six-foot bubble start to shrink — but keep in mind that some guests may still be wary of getting too close to each other without a mask.
What other wedding traditions might change?
As the dance floor makes a modified comeback, so too could other common wedding traditions. Guest tables might have bottles of hand sanitizer next to flower displays. Couples may even opt to provide masks at the event entrance — several shops offer formal or customizable masks for a unique yet practical wedding favor!
Outdoor venues and backyard weddings have become increasingly popular for 2020 and 2021, a wedding trend that’s likely to continue well into 2022. Depending on the size of the grounds, venues might also incorporate additional tenting to accommodate a larger number of guests safely.
