One of the best things about New Jersey weddings is the wide variety of locations you can choose to host them. Some couples love the “old world” charm of a historical or rustic building for their wedding. Others prefer a more sleek, elegant look with updated decor and a modern feel.
If you’re in the latter camp, you might consider looking at recently renovated NJ wedding venues for your reception. Older banquet halls and event spaces will often to renovate their interiors (and exteriors) after decades of use, giving couples the opportunity to host their wedding in a brand-new space.
Consider one of these beautiful New Jersey venues that have been updated and refreshed in the last few years.
Renovated NJ wedding venues for your big day
Battello (Jersey City)
While Battello isn’t an “old” venue (it first opened in 2014), it recently underwent an emergency renovation to repair a structural issue with the pier beneath it. This popular Jersey City restaurant and wedding venue abruptly shut its doors in September 2017, and finally reopened its doors in February 2019.
According to Jersey Digs, Battello created a revamped menu and cocktail list to celebrate its grand re-opening. Couples who host their wedding here can have the restaurant closed to the public during their event, creating a private, intimate atmosphere for their waterfront celebration.
Crystal Point Yacht Club (Point Pleasant)
Crystal Point Yacht Club is one of our favorite Jersey Shore wedding venues, and we love it even more with its new look. Over the last couple of years, this banquet hall has updated both its event space and its overnight accommodations at the Crystal Point Inn. Couples who have recently held their wedding at Crystal Point rave about the beautiful renovations and new event menu.
Updates include a new cocktail hour room and a remodeled ballroom with new bar and dance floor with new speakers and customizable LED lighting.
Icona Golden Inn (Avalon)
For more than 50 years, Avalon’s Golden Inn stood as a landmark in this seaside borough. In 2015, luxury hotel management company Icona Resorts purchased the hotel and funded a $15 million renovation project, rebranding this historic space as Icona Golden Inn.
Since it reopened in 2016, Icona has been a popular spot for South Jersey couples who want a beachfront wedding. The Inn’s new 4,000 square-foot event space, the Seaglass Ballroom, features wooden floors, custom lighting, and floor-to-ceiling windows for plenty of natural light. After your elegant reception, guests can head right to their renovated hotel rooms and wake up with a gorgeous ocean view.
The Mill Lakeside Manor (Spring Lake)
In 2017, The Mill at Spring Lake Heights restaurant closed down. A year and a half later, it reopened as The Mill Lakeside Manor, a gorgeous new venue that hosts one wedding at a time.
The new owners spared no expense in making The Mill into a sought-after wedding destination. The former public restaurant area has been converted into a pre- and post-event space for private parties and weddings. As part of its interior and exterior renovations, the Mill now features a full first-floor cocktail hour space and a brand-new, second-floor ballroom with coffered ceilings, custom mood lighting, crystal chandeliers and an updated speaker system.
