Brett Byles, a Rutgers Business School student, has been working as a DJ and production assistant for Hurricane Productions since April 2018. He's been a musician his entire life, playing piano, guitar and singing. Brett was practically born for a career in music: He has perfect pitch, an ability shared by about 1 percent of the world’s population.

"It’s basically the musical equivalent of having a photographic memory," he says. "I can recognize and reproduce musical notes without any aid. Blindfold me, hit a couple notes on piano, and I can instantly tell you what those notes are."

Brett became interested in DJing as a college freshman when he saw his fellow students doing it at parties. He soon launched his own entertainment company and DJed small private events before joining the Hurricane team. He has also held a residency at Scarlet Pub in New Brunswick since early 2018.

As an entertainment professional, Brett takes all his clients' very personally and seriously. He takes pride in ensuring their events run smoothly and preserving the important moments that make their events special.

Brett's favorite Hurricane project thus far has been Club Alex, a night where Hurricane transforms a Rutgers University library into a night club.

"As a Rutgers student myself, it was a unique and very fun experience being able to DJ at a venue where I’ve spent countless hours studying," he says.

Brett says the best part about working with Hurricane is friendly, professional and knowledgeable people: "They’re always prepared to the umpteenth degree, have great senses of humor and are a real pleasure to work with."

Everything You Need to Know About Rutgers Gardens Weddings

outdoor ceremony rutgers gardens rutgers university weddings

Rutgers Gardens is one of the most beautiful outdoor wedding spaces in New Jersey.

A Rutgers Gardens ceremony, surrounded by the serenity of the grounds, is a special place to say "I do."

The property is well suited for medium and large-scale weddings. While the grounds are indeed sprawling, your overall guest count will likely be limited to the number of tables able to fit in the pavilion.

There is ample overflow space but with an outdoor wedding it's important to plan according to the season and forecast. The pavilion and neighboring cabin offer cover for inclement weather.

There are two recommended ceremony locations at Rutgers Gardens.

And one secret location...

For those looking for a unique and intimate ceremony, the Rutgers Gardens Pine Forest offers an experience like no other.

After a short hike through Helyar Woods the trail opens up to a breathtaking sight.

Perfectly arranged rows of pine tress extending radially in all directions. A carpet of pine needles softens the ground and footsteps quickly become silenced.

The subtle and quiet beauty of this place makes it a memorable and unique ceremony location.

Rutgers University ImposteRave

rutgers university

Rutgers University Student Life, in partnership with Hurricane Productions planned and produced the first ever non-athletics event in the Football Practice Bubble entitled Imposterave.

Drawing from a concept originally conceived by students at Wesleyan University, Student DJs assumed the role of famous DJs by playing a set in the style of their chosen artist. The impersonated DJs included Laidback Luke, Hardwell, Kaskade, and Dillon Francis. Hurricane's own DJ Brostradamus headlined the event.

The concert sported a myriad of features provided by Hurricane including custom-made graphics, club lighting effects and live social media integration.

Students who tweeted and posted photos to Instagram using the special hashtag had their posts displayed on screens live, for everyone to see.

Hurricane also provided professional photography and videography services, including aerial shots via the DJI Phantom Drone equipped with a GoPro camera.

As part of Rutgers Student Life's Senior Days programming, Imposterave was an energetic send-off for the graduating class of 2013.
