Nick Nittoli first met Hurricane Productions co-founder Vincent Velasquez at St. John Vianney High School, where they both played on the baseball team. The two kept in touch after graduation and in June of 2011, Nick reached out to Vincent about freelance photography work. His first Hurricane gig was a Bat Mitzvah held at the event space of PNC Bank Arts Center, and from there he earned a spot in our rotation of photographers.
Nick has always liked taking pictures and capturing moments for others to look back on.
"There are so many things that go into a memory," he says. "I just wanted to make sure I captured the part that could bring someone back to whatever moment was happening. I thought that was always and still is the key to a great photo."
As Nick continued to shoot events for Hurricane, he eventually sought to increase his responsibilities and value with the company. He participated in a training session with one of our lighting techs, Thomas Bishop, which inspired him to do everything he could to further his education in the field.
This ambition and desire to learn new skills allowed Nick to take on other work like video and graphic design, and eventually he was promoted to the role of Director of Operations. In this role, Nick gets to implement things that hopefully make the company operate better for everyone.
"It starts with our clients and affects all our staff," he says. "The goal is to make the overall process from start to finish something everyone enjoys and keeps people excited about our company and the experience we provide."
Like many of his Hurricane colleagues, Nick loves working the Rutgers Dance Marathon every year. Although it's long and stressful, it's also incredibly fun and rewarding for the team.
"It's amazing to see everyone work together to create an awesome event for the patients of Embrace Kids Foundation and their families," Nick adds.
It is this spirit of collaboration that Nick enjoys most about working with the Hurricane team. They are in fact a team, he says – one that pulls together to get things done, even when they're tired or struggling.
"We are always looking out for one another and more importantly, we look at each other as family," says Nick. "I'm not sure you get that same type of environment in another company."
According to Nick, the most important thing a prospective client should know about Hurricane Productions is that the team goes above and beyond for every event, putting in an extraordinary amount of effort and time on each project.
"We make sure we're doing everything we possibly can to deliver an incredible product married with an awesome overall experience," he says.
