All of Hurricane Productions’ live events are special. But some tell unique stories about the clients and the company.

As we compiled a list of our Top 20 events of 2011 it was hard to leave these events off the list. So here is a look at some honorable mentions from this past year.

The Story:
When Carly’s dad called Hurricane Productions in late 2010, he said that his daughter really deserved a special celebration.

The minute anyone meets Carly, you can tell how genuine and appreciative that she is about everything in her life.

From personalized ‘Name in Lights’ to a Next-Day Facebook photo album, Carly experienced her Sweet 16 just the way her parents pictured it.

4. Danielle’s ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ inspired Sweet 16
When: January 16, 2011
Where: Courtyard on Main – Freehold, NJ
The Story:
Sometimes you meet a family that likes to challenge ‘the norm’ when it comes to celebrations.

Danielle and her family pictured an elegant event with a throwback to the Aubrey Hepburn days.

Inspired by the movie ‘Breakfast at Tiffanys’ the room design focused on a beautiful ‘Name in Lights’ gobo using the Tiffany font while blue uplighting accented the ballroom at Courtyard on Main in Freehold, NJ.

3. Gus and Kristin’s Wedding belleville_nj_naninas

When: March 25, 2011
Where: Nanina’s in the Park – Belleville, NJ
The Story:
Before pursuing Hurricane Productions full-time, Strato worked with his father at a family owned and operated auto repair shop in Maplewood, NJ.

During his time at the shop, Strato grew close with Gus – a technician at L&J Motors for nearly 10 years.

When it was finally time for Gus to ask the love of his life to marry him, the couple reached out to Strato to help them plan the celebration.

Gus and Kristin’s wedding shows the versatility of Hurricane Productions.

Hurricane fused the couples’ cultural backgrounds (Greek and Irish) into its music selection for the evening.

2. Natalie’s Sweet 16 redefines ‘house’ inspired event
When: December 3, 2011
Where: Cherry Valley Country Club – Skillman, NJ
The Story:
This party got WILD. Just watch the video.

House and club music pumped through our system all night with DJ Strato keeping the dance floor packed for four straight hours.

As for design, this party is one of our most extravagant setups from 2011 with pinspot lighting, lounge furniture, custom graphics and uplighting design.

The Story:
There’s not much to say about Erica because she said it all herself. Here is the testimonial she left on our Facebook page right after her Sweet 16:

“HURRICANE PRODUCTIONS♥! I can’t even begin to explain how amazing of a job you guys did tonight. From day one of talking and meetin up with Strato to the minute the party started tonight, you guys made it alll happen! The lights were absolutely fabulous and I loved the uplighting so much! The name graphic was adooooraaablee♥ everyone loved it. Everyone loved the party and had an absolutely amazing time! (my wall is currently under attack!) Guido, Strato, Benny you guys are AMAZING. Thank you guys so much for everything that you did tonight♥! I can’t wait for the pictures!!! and then like my mom said….my wedding? I THINK SO !!! :D

The Verdict perform and start a conga line at Rutgers Dance Marathon 2010

The Verdict performs and starts conga line at Rutgers Dance Marathon

The Verdict brought life to the Rutgers College Ave Gymnasium with its reggae, soca and calypso style music.
In the last few hours of the 32-hour Dance Marathon, The Verdict made students jump around, dolla wine, and conga line around the gymnasium.

The Verdict, just like Hurricane Productions, are mainstays of Dance Marathon – the largest student-run philanthropic event in New Jersey.

Rutgers Dance Marathon is a 32-hour, non-stop event that raises money and awareness for children with cancer and blood disorders. All proceeds go towards the Embrace Kids Foundation which is located in New Brunswick, NJ.

Hurricane Productions is in its third year of entertaining DM. Hurricane provides entertainment but also trains students to be emcees and DJs during the event.

Magic 98.3 invites Hurricane Productions live on the air from Rutgers Dance Marathon

Vincent Anthony Velasquez spoke to Magic 98.3 – a local NJ radio station – about Rutgers University Dance Marathon and Hurricane Productions’ involvement with the event.

Vincent joined his good friends from the station Debbie Mazella and Chris McCoy during Dance Marathon weekend on March 27-28.

This is Hurricane Productions third straight year involved with Dance Marathon – a 32-hour non-stop event that raises money for children with cancer and blood disorders. All proceeds go to the Embrace Kids Foundation located in New Brunswick, NJ.

Hurricane Productions trained 11 student DJs and emcees to work alongside its professional staff. It also launched RutgersDJ.com – a website dedicated to all of the company’s entertainment work at Rutgers University.

Dance Marathon is Hurricane’s marquee event but the company also entertains Rutgers football Homecoming, Guinness Book of World Record events and other RU Student Life affairs.

Hurricane Productions has been featured on SNY, in the Asbury Park Press, Star-Ledger and on Magic 98.3 among other NJ/NY area media networks.

Hurricane Productions is owned and operated by Rutgers College Alumni (class of 2009).

The N Result performs “I Gotta Feeling” at Rutgers Dance Marathon 2010

Good friends of Hurricane Productions and fellow Rutgers students and alumni, The N Result, performed live at this year’s Dance Marathon.

They opened the event with a cover of Black Eyed Peas hit song “I Gotta Feelin.”

This is not the first time Hurricane Productions and The N Result worked together. Just a few short weeks ago they shared the stage at Air Guitar at the Rutgers Athletic Center- an event produced by Rutgers Student Life in an attempt to break a Guinness Book World Record.

“The N Result and Hurricane Productions work so well together because we don’t only share the stage, we share the same goals,” said Rutgers College Alumnus and Hurricane Productions owner Vincent Anthony. “We’re both here at Dance Marathon ‘For the Kids’ and looking give back to a community that has given us so much.”

Rutgers University Dance Marathon Line Dance 2010

It’s time for Rutgers Dance Marathon and for the third straight year, Hurricane Productions is involved with entertaining over 1,000 students at the College Ave Gymnasium.

DJ Strato of Hurricane Productions edited the line dance music mix. Hurricane Productions also filmed and edited the line dance music video. The video and the dance are performed once and hour, totaling 32 performances.

DJ Strato, DJ N9NE, and Vincent Anthony trained a group of student emcees and DJs to work alongside Hurricane Productions for the entire 32-hour event.

Rutgers Dance Marathon 2009: Hurricane Productions in the media

Hurricane Productions is in the news this morning after entertaining Rutgers Dance Marathon this past weekend, April 4-5.

The 32-hour event raises money and awareness for the Embrace Kids Foundation. As New Jersey’s largest, student-run philanthropic event, participants raised a total of $323,717.90 this year — the highest total ever.

Highest total ‘for the kids’ despite economy

Hurricane Productions led various line dances, played non-stop music, and helped coordinate entertainment. The company staffed the event with four DJs, two MCs, and two entertainment coordinators.

Hurricane Productions co-owner Vincent Velasquez was a guest on Magic 98.3 this past weekend to talk about Dance Marathon and the company’s involvement. The radio station hosted a “Radio-Thon” to coincide with Dance Marathon.

The Manalapan and New Brunswick-based DJ company was also featured in the Daily Targum last month after it entertained the Marathon’s inaugural Pep Rally.

Hundreds rally for Dance Marathon

The Daily Targum is the official student newspaper of Rutgers University, the State University of New Jersey. In its current form, it exists as a bi-fold tabloid-style paper featuring international, national, local, and university news, as well as editorials, columns, comics, classifieds, sports, and other amusements. The paper boasts a circulation of 17,000.

WMGQ, known on-air as Magic 98.3, is a radio station broadcasting from Somerset, New Jersey (the site of both the studio and tansmitter tower) and licensed in New Brunswick (less than a mile away). It is located at 98.3 FM. The station can be heard in Monmouth, Middlesex, Somerset, Mercer, Union, and Hunterdon counties.

Hurricane Productions to use Facebook to give Rutgers Dance Marathon a full entertainment experience

Aside from providing Rutgers University’s Dance Marathon with entertainment for its 32-hour event, Hurricane Productions will be adding a multimedia experience to this year’s DM.

Through the Hurricane Productions Facebook Fan Page, all dancers and volunteers will be able to “tag” themselves and their friends in photos that will uploaded in real-time.

Also, Hurricane Productions will allow all dancers and volunteers to make music requests to the DJs on-stage via a website designed specifically for Dance Marathon.

Rutgers Dance Marathon welcomes Hurricane Productions back for 2nd straight year

There are just a few days before Rutgers Dance Marathon 2009, April 4-5, and Hurricane Productions LLC proudly announces its involvement with this year’s 32-hour non-stop event.

For the second straight year – Hurricane Productions – a DJ entertainment company located in Manalapan, NJ, will provide the 11th annual Dance Marathon with its entire staff to help entertain an event that raised $318,989.08 for the Embrace Kids Foundation last year and over $1.6 million total over the past 10 years.

Along with co-owners Strato Doumanis and Vincent Velasquez, HP volunteers will include:

Ashley Best, Jonathan Brooks, Nicolas Dalfino, Kyle Gries, Eddie “DJ N9NE” Romani, and Alex Rosenkranz.

Also, the company would like to invite everyone to Club DM, a two-hour dance party during Dance Marathon. The event, which will include club/techno/hip-hop among other party favorites and a light show, starts a midnight and lasts until 2 a.m., April 4th into April 5th. Ed “DJ N9NE” Romani and DJ Strato will be providing music and Vinny “Vin DJ” Velasquez will host the two-hour party. (A $5 mandatory donation is required for admission to Club DM.)

About Dance Marathon:

Rutgers University Dance Marathon is a 32-hour, student-run philanthropic event to raise money for the Embrace Kids Foundation, a non-profit organization that aids the non-medical needs of children with cancer and blood disorders. Rutgers University students gear up for Dance Marathon on April 4-5 with karaoke night. Students sing (or attempt to sing) songs like “Love Shack,” “Wake me up before you go-go,” “I will survive,” and more. Dance Marathon is a 32-hour event that raises money and awareness for the Embrace Kids Foundation in New Brunswick. The event raised nearly $320,000 last year, bringing its total to $1.3 million raised over 10 years.
