Hurricane Productions DJ Staff takes a few minutes to discuss what they liked about this year’s DJ Expo (2008), what they didn’t like, and how DJ Times can improve for 2009.

During the Promo Only House of Blues party at the DJ Expo 2008 in Atlantic City, there were several notable guest performances. Such performances included the following segment performed by Akon and the up-and-coming artist Tami Chynn.

Tami received notice by artist Akon, this year, who signed her up to his label Konvict Muzik and began production of her sophomore album Prima Donna. Hurricane Productions will be mixing songs from Tami’s new album into many upcoming Sweet 16 sets in fall and winter 2008.

After leaving the 2008 International DJ Expo in Atlantic City, Strato and I walked away with one regret (and it wasn’t the fact that our pockets felt much lighter).

We attended a seminar by one of our DJ mentors, Ray Martinez, and created a YouTube video about him. We spoke with him one-on-one on the Expo floor. In fact, after the Expo we even ordered both of his books.

But when we had the chance, we didn’t remember to take a picture with Ray Mar.

Luckily, after some correspondence via e-mail, Ray Mar was able dig up a picture we took with him from the 2005 DJ Expo. Wow, we were just 18 years old.

Flash discussed how he got started and what drove him to make such an imense contribution to the hip-hop DJ industry. This video clip highlights a story he tells about his childhood when he was just discovering what music and records were all about.
